I absolutely love my GLITTER HTV from JDC. I have been getting my vinyl, htv and sublimation materials from them for well over a year now. Great customer service and super knowledgeable people. They know their products.

So what are the first steps to making these earrings? Well you need your png or svg image from Creative Fabrica. Click here to download your gnome bundle.

BUTTTT, consider their subscription to their entire site. You pay a small fee each month for unlimited access!!! This is a heck of a lot cheaper than buying fonts and images off Cricut Design Space at $4.99 a pop. If you decide to try Creative Fabrica for a month, use SWEETCOUNTRYGLAM30 at check out and you will get a huge discount on your subscription and GUESS WHAT?! IT IS REOCCURING! That means you get my discount rate for as long as you want the subscription. Plus, they give you the commercial license on your images. It’s a win win.

CREATIVE FABRICA

Now that you downloaded your images of choice and uploaded to them to your design space – Let’s get crafty.

Upload your images from your downloaded file. Click upload image and drag and drop. Select complex. Click continue. Then be sure to name it and tag it as you like.

Now let’s talk sizes. I try not to make my earrings super crazy huge. I stay around 2.4 in height and around 1.5-1.7 in width depending on the design of the earring. I do want it to look proportional and not stretched or smashed looking.

Sizes are totally up to you.

I like to take the two layers and adjust their color based on the corresponding htv material I will be using. So, I have my ruby red top layer and White bottom layer which is the base the of the entire earring. I also throw in a Rose color htv to give me options if I want pink or red that day. 🙂 Make these in all your favorite colors because well… you can and gnomes are freaking adorbs! They never go outta style in my option. 🙂

Here is a quick tip that I mentioned in my video tutorial, I find that doing the mirroring on the canvas before going to MAKE IT allows me to see what should be flipped and making sure I don’t mirror something I shouldn’t.

When you forget to mirror your image

Now, be mindful in this process because you are using HEAT TRANSFER VINYL or HTV. In this case, you are only needing to flip one white solid set and one set of the red / pink top layers. As the one set will be the front and one set will the back.

You will take the two white htv pieces , align them and iron them together. Keep that clear film on each side as that will protect the HTV from melting, as you use the mini press. You can see in the picture above that my mini press is on level 2. You want to flip it over and then iron the back side.

Let it cool a tad then peel just one side of the film off.

Weed the inside of the gnomes beard and nose out. Careful this takes some time. Be patient with yourself.

Now take your top glitter pieces and align one at a time over the white earring. Take note that your gnomes beard at the bottom is pointing the same direction as the white base layer is. You will then iron it on and peel the clear film off. You will repeat this process for the other earring.

Now take your earrings off the clear backing and flip them over and place them back on it. This will keep them in place as you repeat the top layer ironing process again.

Now you will add two jump rings to each earring. This will keep your earring from flipping sideways on you. Add your hooks and you are ready to wear your Gnome earrings 🙂
